It’s exhausting. It’s hard to always keep up with the tempo and maintain the pace just for people to see you how you would like them to. And probably to also think highly of you.
The truth is that everyone has their own fantasies. And sometimes we are overwhelmed with the fantasies in our heads and we use them to keep us warm in our solitary cold moments, and give us hope when we feel empty.
But then we also tend to hold mirrors and reflect an image for the world to see, and the only reason is to get feedback so that we can feel good about ourselves.
And when we get a good feedback, we keep reflecting that image for more feedback, or we even pretend more about it.
However, at some point when it’s all over, we are left to face our lives; how they really are- with what we struggle with.
We are left to walk with the demons of our own. That is the silence of the night, and also sometimes of the day, it all becomes ours to face all over again.
In this current generation, our experiences are packaged, polished, curated and presented in our own liking, but mostly to the liking of others. Most times we are not in control of our lives; we do things and we say we love doing them, but mostly because we love the way people also love them, and how when doing those things, they make us lovable- they makes us feel lovable, and we love that.
We live depending on feedback and approval to trust what we are capable of. And we fear that not getting any feedback or not being approved is a terrible thing to experience.
So we reinvent ourselves instead of growing.
We try to find ourselves in what people love rather than creating ourselves.
We fail to comprehend that living our lives is not about being real or not being real, because ‘real‘ is just an excuse people use.
What’s more important is how you grow as a person.
How you love what you do and are good at it and you impact people without having to lie or filter yourself.
It is about being happy with what you do and being at peace with what you have. And knowing what kind of person you are while keeping in mind who you would like to be in the future.
That’s all it takes.
